About Us

  • 1989 – SED was founded in Northern Tasmania as a producer of quality stainless steel products.
  • 1994 – Following an approach by the Tasmanian Oyster Farming Industry seeking cost effective processing equipment SED began the design and development of the first automatic oyster grader.
  • 2000 – After 6 years the prototype model oyster grader was completed. Evaluation by the oyster farming industry saw further refinements being developed into the grader.
  • 2003 – Demonstration tours of the Tasmanian and South Australian Oyster Farming Industry culminated in the first sale.

The rest is history!

SED Shellfish Equipment now supplies oyster grading and processing equipment throughout the world with sales in USA, New Zealand, France, Ireland, Australia and Wales.
